The Whitney Houston Foundation for Children, Inc is dedicated to promoting a positive self image in children and youth by providing opportunities for them to learn and express themselves in safe, supportive environments.

A Portrait of Action

In our past efforts we have tried to make a difference:

Our annual Christmas party for homeless children has provided food, gifts and entertainment for hundreds of children each year. With the help from our volunteers and supporters, we have shared the joy of the holiday season with thousands of children.

A grant designated for children led to the creating of The Whitney Houston Pediatric Special Care Unit at UMDNJ University Hospital in Newark, NJ.

Funding to Hale House in Harlem helped to establish a learning and recreational area for children of mothers participating in "Time Out For Moms" (a program designed to assist recovering mothers who are struggling to provide for their children).

Continued financial assistance to Rainbow House helps support their effort to give shelter, care and emotional support for adolescent mothers and their children who are living with HIV and AIDS.

The proceeds from Whitney Houston's Super Bowl performance of the "Star Spangled Banner" have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to families and children of military personnel who served in the Gulf War.

A gift of $300,000 from Whitney Houston's One South Africa Tour supports a selected group of South African children's charities.

Grants have also provided for the counseling of abused children and their parents, scholarships for gifted children, specific summer sports camps, culturally and/or socially significant children's dance and theater groups, and other programs that promote the healthy emotional and physical growth of children.
